A commissioned bracelet to replace one that was broken. The customer sent me the original, which was not repairable, so we agreed on making a new one to replicate the original.

The first 6 of 14 late 19th century dining chairs. These chairs originally had wicker, which was removed and replaced with leather decades ago. The leather had deteriorated. I replaced the foam and leather.

These are cardboard drawers with a leather face. The leather got damaged during a move. Here, I removed the old leather and replaced with new gilded leather provided by Ron Berry at https://www.desktopleatherlinings.co.uk/

The original materials used were torn, curled up and some were replaced with PVC. This refurbishment was done with leather after removing all the old materials, cleaning up and sanding the wood base. A French polish was applied to the wood.

A lovely tote bag from Vercace. The stitching on the handles had ripped out and the handles needed repairs.

This very old briefcase was dry and had torn stitches along one of the edges. There was also a very bad repair job, which had to be hidden. I removed the old stitching, treated the leather and re-stitched. This is a good example of a sympathetic repair.

This bespoke bottle rest/mat and leather wrapped glasses was designed by me for a friend. The leather was wet moulded to fit the bottle. A Simple tooling pattern was done around the edges and where the glasses sit.

A collaborative design with the client, who wanted a bespoke portfolio to hold up to A2 sized artwork. The metal rose was made by the client. The straps and handle represent thorns. Inside is a 'secret' drawer to hold business cards.

Famous British motorbike and bicycle saddle maker since 1866! The leather was replaced by moulding and shaping the new leather. An antique dye was used to colour the leather and techniques I use to make it look antique. The leather was hand stitched with linen thread to stay in keeping with this antique item.

A simple case of replacing the original buckle with one chosen by the client. No stitching was required since the buckle was held into the fold with Chicago screws.

Various stitching repairs were required, some shaping and recolouring was done to bring this case back to life.

This beautiful cornet case needed a new leather handle. I made a handle with multiple layers of leather, which was hand stitched.

A good example of a sympathetic repair to a briefcase which needed a new handle, colouring, repairs and treatments. All work done by hand.

This rather large and beautiful rotating games table got wet from rain due to a leak in the roof. The leather had discoloured and rotted. A new leather inlay was made with gold gilding around the edges provided by Ron Berry at https://www.desktopleatherlinings.co.uk/. My job was removing the old leather and laying on the new.

Custom Harley Davidson motorcycle Quilted Saddle, pillion seat, tail bib and tool roll. The leather used is veg tanned natural, hand dyed using my proprietary methods. I use water based and oil based dyes to achieve the finish I am looking for. The shaping of the leather, where required, is done by wet moulding.

A hand crafted saddle, reins, bridle and neck collar for a small rocking donkey. The leather used is natural veg tanned lining leather, hand dyed using my proprietary methods to achieve the finish I am looking for.

Another example of a sympathetic repair and restore. The stitching on the corners had come apart and the leather needed strengthening and restitching. All work done by hand.

The original strap was torn off by a watch repairer! This job was to repair the strap to its original state, which required some very fine and accurate (miniature) work and a steady hand.

A lovely standard lamp, made with metal tubing wrapped in leather. The old leather had deteriorated and was torn. New leather was hand dyed then hand stitched on. Finally, the brass fittings were cleaned and polished.

The strap was missing, the plastic loops were broken and some rivets were missing. I made a new strap, replaced all the little rivets and replaced the plastic loops with new leather loops. The case was then colour treated and waterproofed.

Designed by me, a bespoke notebook case, made from natural veg tanned leather, hand dyed and tooled. The lacing around the edge was also made in my workshop. This holds a standard reporters notepad and has a pen holder, bookmark, business card holder and key-ring with tassels. All hand crafted.

This customer sent me a single photo graph of something like this and asked me if I could make one for him. After measuring, I made the patterns, did a fitting session then got to work.

The front panel is a weave design that flows over the shoulder and ends at the back. This garment is lined with silk, has solid cast brass hardware and has an accompanying, matching cuff.

This sporran had torn off where the belt is held at the back. The back was made from bonded leather, so not very strong. I took the sporran apart and replaced the back with new leather backing and re-stitched. All work done by hand.

This piano seat needed re-upholstering as the original material was torn. The customer chose a colour similar to an armchair in the same room. This was sanded down and French polished. The seat has new foam and pull-up aniline leather.

The client sent me the leather and sizing to make new cushion and arm-rest covers.

A leather cup holder, which was hand crafted. The stitching on this was torn and there was evidence of some previous repair work. This was completely dismantled, the leather treated then re-sewn.

This commission was ordered from a client in the USA. The old camera case (in the display box) was very brittle and not repairable. I lined the inside of that to 'put it together' for display. The new case was made to replicate the original from natural veg tanned leather, hand dyed and hand stitched.

This dispatch box is the genuine article. It's handle was broken. The key tassel and handle was made to replace the old one and the hardware and case was cleaned.

This 19th century hand crafted writing case needed the edge lacing replaced. It was also dry and had signs of dry rot. It was treated and polished and the edge lacing made in my workshop, hand dyed and laced on to replicate the original lacing.

This saddle had worn and torn leather (probably the original). I made the new leather cover with natural veg tanned leather, hand dyed with an antique dye and then hand stitched.

The bicycle is fairly easy to date as a year or two later they started using metal rims instead of the wooden ones. This is possibly made by John Starley for Ariel in around 1869, right at the start of the bicycle age in the UK.

These beautiful painted screens were damaged, having tears and fold lines. I replaced the leather around the edges, put backing on the canvas to prevent further tearing and added 'bottoming' cloth on the backs to finish the look.

The name of the restaurant was changed and so needed 're-branding'. I used sheepskin lining leather to cut strips to size and had them gold foiled with the new logo. The strips were then glued on.

The client wanted me to turn this into a ruck-sack. Shoulder straps were added and pockets added on the front and sides. A bottle holder and sound recorder holder were stitched inside. Two carabina holders were added on the sides to carry extras. There is also a hidden pocket. The added components were made from natural veg tanned leather, which was hand dyed. All added components were hand stitched in place. The straps feature Conway buckles for easy and quick adjustment.

The oldest items to have come my way. 19th century carved walnut folding scissors Savonarola chairs featuring hand tooling in the leather. Typical of the Italian Renaissance with a carved Florentine structure . This pair, created in the 19th century, most likely 1840's-1850's, are in good condition. The wood was in good health, but the leather was damaged. I did not want to replace the leather, in order to keep these as original as possible. I lined the underside of the seat and the backrest. It is the lining that takes the strain, helping to prevent further tearing of the leather.

Hand made leather bottle holders for gifts. Made from natural veg tanned leather, hand dyed and tooled, the tags with the recipients initial and the holder with the recipients zodiac sign. The top is edged with Mexican edge braid whilst the body is stitched with a cross stitch.

Sashes for Mr Bear UK 2022, 23 and 24 UK winners designed in collaboration. Made from sheepskin clothing leather and black veg tanned aniline leather for the backing.

A Pegasus Toys rocking horse restoration. All the leather livery is handmade using English bridle hide. The wooden frame was sanded down and re-varnished using yacht varnish.

This seat is from a Korium chair. The leather was torn along the stitches, typical of this type of furniture. The old leather was removed and replaced with new veg tanned leather, stitched, dyed and finished, all by hand.

Handmade leather flask cover with brass decoration and unique green stitching pattern. The leather has been embossed using hand tools then dyed with my signature methods.

Replaced torn zip on this Italian 'The Bridge' briefcase. I get a lot of The Bridge in my workshop because they last a long time. Usually it's the zips that go first.

I made and added tassels to replace the old ones and treated the leather. You can see the difference between the treated (darker) and untreated (lighter) leather.

The leather straps in this picnic basket were so deteriorated they just tore in the hand. All leather was replaced with natural veg tanned leather and hand dyed. The original retaining chains were replaced with a leather 'magic plait'.

I made a flask holder like this to mount on the customer's motorcycle handlebar. He liked it so much that he asked for another. This one is to hang off a belt or belt loop. Made with natural veg tanned leather, hand dyed and laced with Mexican edge braid and cross stitch.

This Victorian sewing basket needed the covering (paper) replaced and the insides repaired and cleaned. Goat skin was used to replace the paper covering.

This motorcycle handlebar mounted bottle holder was made on commission. It features a picture of a bull and the Taurus Zodiac sign. Made with natural veg tanned leather, hand dyed and then laced with Mexican edge braid and cross stitch.

Bespoke Harley Davidson Custom motorcycle mudflap and fender bib.

A knitted bag with a plaited/woven handle that had broken. I repaired the handle, replicating the plait that was used.

This was a commission to make the leather components for this Dottore Genshin outfit. The buckles and parts were 3D printed and screwed onto the outfit. The leather is natural veg tanned hide, hand dyed and assembled.

This Briefcase had a broken tuck lock. To replace it, I had to unstitch the lining so that I could get to the back of the tuck lock, remove it and then put a new lock in. Once the new lock was put on, I then restitched the lining. Colouring and cleaning treatments were also done.

This coromandel case cover (dated at around the mid 19th century) is in a very poor condition. Most of the leather is dry, going into red rot and cracking. The inside lining was in a poor state - and as a purist, I would not normally replace it, however it was torn, stained and I could not get rid of the smell. The Straps were missing so I made new ones. The client also wanted the hardware changed to brass.

This holdall was re-coloured, polished and had both lobster clips replaced to replace a broken one.

This leather music case needed new handles and a gusset. All the stitching was rotten and not holding. I removed all the old stitching and re-stitched by hand.

This gun case was missing the handle, straps and one of the sides of the lid. All repairs done in my workshop by hand.

The insides (lining) of this backpack were torn, which rendered the pocket unusable. I repaired the tears, treated the leather and added more security on the pocket closures.

This camel whip was dried out, parts were torn or missing and the leather needed feeding and various repairs. All repairs done by hand.

The leather binding (made from rawhide) hand deteriorated, dried out and hand become brittle. The new binding was made from natural veg tanned leather.

The hat came to me miss-shaped and stained. Made from Suede and part of it made from a poly thread was reshaped by soaking and moulding the leather. Cleaning for suede was done to remove the stains.

Hand Crafted bespoke handbag with magic plait and heart lock. A 'magic plait' has no open or loose ends. The plait is made by cutting two slits in the strap and plaited.

This is a simple Workshop/Bar Stool, which was covered in PVC. Inspired by Bettega Vaneta, I decided to replace the original cover with this woven pattern. I cut the legs a bit shorter in order to turn it into my sewing stool when I need to machine stitch.

Custom Bobber Seat for a custom rebuilt BMW boxer cafe racer. Made from natural veg tanned hide and hand dyed with my proprietary processes and then stitched.

Two vintage Asprey hip flasks (one was 'granddad's' and the other was 'dad's') handed down. There was no leather on them when I received them. Standard aniline leather was used to recover them and hand-stitched with 'butt-stitch'.

Period Messenger Bags Made to order for a film. A simple design and made from English bridle hide. All hand stitched.

Many handbags come my way with various issues. I don't do all handbags as some are just too difficult to get the hardware or are made in such a way that repair work will cost more than was paid for the bags.

A handmade personalised for a 45th birthday present, designed in collaboration with the customer. The colours are in shades of red and brown. The name on the strap was hand tooled on the front of the guitar strap and the dragon on the back is designed with an integrated treble clef and its tail working into the Celtic knot. In the middle of the guitar strap is 45 in a circle. This strap was lined with white shearling. The client chose the 3 piece silver buckle set and there are tassels and plectrum holders to finish the design of this guitar strap.

This is a set of 14 chairs. All leather was replaced with an Italian aniline veg tanned hide. The weave and lacing were redone in the same style as the originals. Leather feet replaced the missing or damage felt feet.

A Webley Service Rifle Gun Case rebuild for a Webley Service Air Rifle. Everything handmade, hand dyed and hand stitched.

An Italian Selle bicycle saddle. The old material was removed and replaced with Goat Skin.

As you can see, there were some serious tears along the stitch line of the gutters (a pretty common occurance). Repairs were made to the torn leather, weak stitches were replaced and the bag was colour and wax treated.

This client had a sample done by a leather worker, which was badly done. I was asked to do a sample on one chair. This required choosing the right leather for the job, cutting and splitting the strips, weaving and replicating the lacing. The torn and worn felt feet were replaced with leather feet. I am glad to say that I got the contract for all 14 chairs!

A folding camp chair with leather arms, seat and back needed minor repairs and a stain removed from the seat. Stains are particularly difficult to remove (and often can't be removed) from leather. This is because leather soaks up liquids deep into the fibres.

Chinese Chair. Ok, it doesn't have any leather - but - what a wonderful piece it turned out to be after sanding, repairing and staining.

This Horsemans buff coat is a handling and education piece for the National Army Museum, which required cleaning and repairs.

A bespoke daisy bag, made to order from an English bridle hide for the main body and strap. The white parts and inner lining are sheepskin clothing leather.

The top was replaced with hair on hide leather provided and the bottom strengthened. The lacing was replaced and holes in the base had eyelets installed to prevent further tearing. The pouffe was finally colour and was treated.

Sympathetic repairs to this case were to fix the leather and hinge. The covering on this case and the hinge were torn. I used a lining leather to fix the hinge, handle and cover. It was then colour and wax treated.

This late 19th century leather tennis bag was in poor condition, being very dry and most of it having dry rot. The leather was treated and the buckle tabs were replaced.

A small leather leather barrel handbag made from natural veg tanned hide inspired by the large barrel bags on this site (links below). The leather was hand dyed and the bag entirely hand stitched. This bag features luxury leather lining and a hand tooled monogram. All hardware is quality solid brass, cast in the UK by Abbey England.

Despite the deceiving look, they actually hold a lot and make an ideal weekend or overnight travel bag.

This remains, after all the repairs I have done, my favourite. It belongs to a man in his 70's who uses it when he goes skiing!

Made from 49 pieces of veg tanned leather, the entire bag was disassembled as the stitches were coming apart. All the leather components were colour and wax treated. All hardware was replaced with brass and broken straps fixed.

Restitching was all done by hand.

The dye used was mixed for me by Northants Leather Chemicals Limited.

The leather had dried out, faded and worn thin. The arms of the chairs were broken at the joints. They were about to go to the skip until the client decided to try and get them fixed up.

I stripped off the old leather, repaired the arms and then recovered them with natural veg tanned leather, hand dyed to the colour with a bespoke dye made for me.

The lacing you see replicated the original lacing seen in the originals. The rivets used also replicated what was used on the originals.

The dye used was mixed for me by Northants Leather Chemicals Limited.

This messenger bag did not need any repairs, but the customer wanted it spruced up. I gave it a colour treatment and finished it with a polish.

This is a very large table which had a vinyl inlay. I removed the vinyl, cleaned up the recess and installed the leather inlay.

A handmade bespoke, personalised guitar strap for one lucky lady. This guitar strap is a single layer of natural veg tanned hide, hand dyed using my techniques for colouring and finishing and the name was hand tooled also. All stitching done by hand. The buckle is solid brass supplied by Abbey England and there are plectrum slots to complete the design.

A really tired, previously repaired briefcase. Another 'The Bridge' brief case having been used for more than 20 years. It had several repairs done in the past, most of which I had to redo as they were badly done. The case was then colour and wax treated.

All the stitching was rotten and the leather components needed proper treatment. I dismantled the briefcase so that could then work on each leather component with colouring, treatment and repairs.

The hardware was cleaned and polished. All re-assembly stitching was done by hand using traditional methods.

A bespoke hand crafted leather cross-body come hip bag made to customer specifications featuring the wearer's initial and green suede lining on the inside. The strap is adjustable. Hand dyed and stitched.

This kit bag was run over by a car! The injuries sustained were scratches and some tearing. The repairs were made, scratches treated and the whole bag was cleaned and treated.

These nursing chairs had been refurbished in the past. Here, I stripped them down and re-covered with leather.

Renovated foot stools. They were stripped down and the legs sanded and french polished. The covering is in genuine shearling.

The toolbox was a Christmas present, which has been personalised with hand tooled logo on leather. The leather has been cushioned so that it is not flat in the inlay area.

I have made a number of bespoke and personalised belt. I use natural veg tanned hide and dye it myself.

Examples of Lacing, Stitching, Edging and Braiding. There are many ways of finishing edges and many stitching styles. I use the traditional saddle stitch for most of my work but occasionally, I get to play with different ideas and styles.

These saddle bags had water marks and broken or missing buckles. All buckles were replaced and the leather was treated to remove the water marks and to give protection.

Using English bridle hide, this is a bespoke quiver and arrow bound with cross stitched lace and edged with Mexican edge braid. The arrow is a pipe, wrapped with veg tanned leather, hand stitched and hand dyed.

A Holdall with broken handle and faded colouring. The handle was repaired and colours brought back to life without losing the patina and character of the holdall.

This Chaise was rebuilt from the frame up. All old materials were removed. The frame was sanded and French Polished before rebuilding with new foam, dacron and leather.

30 Year old briefcase repair and restore. The handle was replaced with one I made. All edging removed and replaced. Colouring and treatment to complete the work.

Rocking Horse Repairs were needed on this treasured family piece.
This rocking horse was missing it's mane, tail and some of the leather such as the reins, halter and stirrup straps. We replaced the missing components, gave the horse a wash and cleaned the saddle.

Aged, dry, broken belt repair and restore. Treated the leather to bring some life back into it and did the repairs to the buckle fold. The buckle was cleaned and polished.

Bespoke Commemorative Bracelets made from a cricket ball. 3 bracelets were asked for, but not enough cricket ball to make them. So, I incorporated cuts from the ball into this leather weave. Part of the cricket ball was turned into a 'trophy' and it reveals the club where this ball was used.

Bespoke Flask Holders made from vachetta leather, sewn together with leather cross stitch and edged with Mexican edge braid. The personalisations were hand tooled.

Bespoke Torque Bracelet made using natural veg tanned leather, hand dyed and hand stitched around the steel insert.

Bespoke, hand crafted leather roofers tool belt featuring nail pouches, measuring tape holder, roofers square, pen holders and matching belt. All designed in my workshop.

Here are some examples of tooled leather that I have done for various projects. Tooling can include decorations, logos, names and dates, etc. I use tooling stamps and a poly maul to do my tooling.

We have a solid brass buckle and loop and plectrum holders and tassels to complete the design. All dyeing and (over 600) stitches done by hand.

There is a bass clef guitar and music note design hand drawn and tooled. The lining is suede and there is a solid cast brass buckle and loop. The plectrum holders and tassels finish off the design.

Rebuilt seat in English Bridle Hide leather to match saddle-bags. The client wanted more back rest and wanted to be brought forward on the bike. This involved adding foam and then shaping and carving the foam to the design the owner had in mind. The leather used (including the lace, which I made) is English bridle hide in two colours.

Commission to make a half check dog collar with roller buckle and matching lead. The point of these is that they tighten around the neck of the dog without strangling. When relaxed, the collar will open and relax around the neck. A kinder alternative to choke chains the half check dog collar, also known as a half choke/choker collar, martingale collar or limited slip collar, is a type of collar commonly used for dogs. It is designed to provide more control over the dog without choking or causing discomfort.

The collar is worn around the dog’s neck like a regular collar. When the dog pulls or tries to back out of the collar, the tension on the leash causes the collar to tighten slightly. The collar is designed to provide a limited amount of tightening, creating a snug fit without choking the dog. This tightening action helps prevent the dog from slipping out of the collar.

The collar is worn around the dog’s neck like a regular collar. When the dog pulls or tries to back out of the collar, the tension on the leash causes the collar to tighten slightly. The collar is designed to provide a limited amount of tightening, creating a snug fit without choking the dog. This tightening action helps prevent the dog from slipping out of the collar.

This design is based on a motorcycle saddle bag! It was bespoke made from English Bridle hide and as you can see, rather large!

The buckle is solid cast brass. The 'RH' initials were hand drawn and tooled. This guitar strap comes with an extension to connect the strap to the nut of the guitar.
